21 March to 20 April

The constellation Aries was visualized by the ancient Greek astronomers as the ram with the golden wool. In Greek mythology, the ram rescued Phrixus and his twin sister Helle from their sinister stepmother. Phrixus sacrificed the ram and hung the golden fleece in a tree in the holy grove of Ares.
The ram in the constellation is depicted as lying down with his head turned to the right and with the stars α, β and γ Arietis marking the ram’s head and horns. See below for more information.
